Privacy policy
Zip Code Shipping Abakira lets a merchant charge different shipping rates depending on the buyer’s zip code. It writes the merchant’s rates into a shipping profile owned by the app, and a Shopify Function hides, at checkout, the rates that do not match the buyer’s zip code.
What we access, and why
- Shipping (write) — to create and update the app’s own shipping profile and its rates, and to read the merchant’s shipping profiles in order to warn them when their own rates would take priority over the app’s. We never change the merchant’s own shipping profiles.
- Delivery customizations (write) — to install the app’s Shopify Function and give it the merchant’s rules.
- Discounts (write) — to create, update and delete the app’s single automatic shipping discount, which lowers the fallback rate to the price of a cheaper zone at checkout. We never change the merchant’s own discounts.
- Locations (read) — to know which locations ship online orders, so that the app’s rates ship from them.
What we store
We store the shop owner contact email supplied by Shopify and the language of the merchant’s Shopify admin, for essential service communication and to serve the app in the right language. The contact email is not a marketing opt-in; we do not send marketing messages without separate, explicit consent.
We store the rules the merchant enters (zones, zip codes, rate names and prices), the identifiers of the shipping profile, delivery customization and discount the app created, and technical events (for example “rules synced”) that carry counts, never personal data.
We never receive buyer data. The buyer’s zip code is read by the Shopify Function inside Shopify’s checkout; it is never sent to our servers and never stored by us.
Who else sees this data
We use Vercel to run the app, Neon to store it, and Crisp (Crisp IM SAS, Nantes, France) for the support chat inside the merchant admin. The support chat is loaded only in the Shopify admin, never on a storefront. Crisp sees only what a merchant chooses to write to us.
What we never do
- We do not sell or share merchant or buyer data.
- We do not use any data for advertising or profiling.
How it is protected
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS everywhere, including between the app and its database) and at rest by our database provider. Access is limited to what is needed to run the app.
Deletion
When a merchant uninstalls the app, we immediately clear the contact email and admin language. Shopify sends us a shop redaction request 48 hours later, and we delete every record we hold for that shop. Merchants can also ask us to delete their data at any time.
Our agreement with merchants
We act as a data processor on behalf of the merchant, who remains the controller of their store’s data. We process only the data listed above, only for the purposes listed above, and never for our own ends.
